Job Description

As a customer-facing destination brand ambassador, effectively + passionately promote the Mudgee Region at the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre to achieve visitor, partner, and stakeholder objectives. Actively promote local produce and merchandise to meet retail sales targets.

Specific Accountabilities
Be present with visitors and stakeholders, providing engaging and informative insights and information about local tourism assets, striving to achieve (and exceed) retail sales targets at the Visitor Information Centre or off-site promotional events. Become familiar with the organisation’s function and accountabilities, providing support as directed.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Visitor Information Services
Opening and closing of the Mudgee Arts Precinct
Surprise and delight visitors by attending to telephone calls and front desk enquiries in an upbeat, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient manner
Resolve visitor concerns sensitively and effectively
Ensure brochure stocks are kept at levels, allowing for efficient servicing of visitor requests
Maintain visitor front-of-house area
Accurately collect and record visitor statistics daily
Actively distribute the monthly What’s On and event flyers
Promptly respond to online chat enquiries
Maintain a fresh and visually appealing retail area with regular stock rotation and on-brand signage
Research local tourism products and participate in familiarisations, be/become familiar with the Mudgee Region and partner experiences
Partnership Support (additional duties)

This full-time position will also provide administrative support to the Partnerships Team – providing an opportunity for growth and career progression.

Assist to grow and retain the organisation’s partnership base and increase partner engagement
Assist the Partnerships Team to activate annual partnership drive
Assist in activating all partnership inclusions
Assist with reporting and data entry where required

Skills and experience
Essential

An authentically happy person who delights in providing and sharing information
A genuine passion for the tourism and hospitality industry
Highly developed customer service, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Established skillset in multi-tasking and prioritisation in a fast-paced environment
Available to work on weekends
Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
Working knowledge of administrative Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and other web-related programs
Cash handling and retail sales skills
Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Card + Responsible Supply of Alcohol Training (or willingness to obtain if successful)
Current Drivers' License
Desirable

Working knowledge of an event ticketing + accommodation booking system
Food Safety Supervisor qualifications

Full-time salaried position
Includes weekends, with some Public Holidays on a rotating roster
NES and Mudgee Region Tourism Employment Agreement
